SHOAL

Individual instincts - Collective movement

SHOAL

"SHOAL" is an exciting new collaboration between artist-performers August Myfanwy and k rowan and sound practitioner Rebecca Lawrence  (Nada Pulse). Working with the idea of individual and collective movement the performers will enter an intuitive and responsive relationship with a live soundscape to create an immersive sea-puppet sound experience.

We make our own puppets and costumes where we can and use a variety of puppet types including traditional puppet forms and our own designs to capture the movement, light and colour of fish in motion and of other sea creatures in the oceans depths. Where possible we will use found, foraged or recycled materials.

SHOAL is

a created meditative environment with projected light, puppets, performers and live soundsculpting. Cast shadows will inform the textures and depths of the environment enhanced with kinetic art to further establish the illusion of being on the sea bed. There is scope for a walkabout adaption using mask theatre, puppets and a smaller sound set up. SHOAL is being developed during 2026 for performances in 2027
